.. my childhood was without Ducks .... my first time in my today's history of my life to come face to face with a Duck and that close. I only know my favorite crispy duck in the chinese restos.
What fascinate me and made me conscious is that ....
The passeo of the mother with chicks happens to be always without the father Duck.
It differs with the Swan Family .... they stay together for almost all the time. Very fascinating.
I am lucky enough to have the best models in my photo session .... they are all doing their job well .... kudos to that.

Your observation was very good that two bird meet and evoltion start and two bird convert into many birds.

this is my idea of evolution but it is half idea because there should become full circle and it will reach again at the 1.-

.... nice to see you around .... your evolution interpretation is also correct reality.
Another Idea of evolution:
1+1 = 3
3+2 = 6
.... in other words:
She plus He = 1
1 plus Family = 6 Ducks should be is the difference in the picture that you do not see.
Please try and try it again untill you see.

Since I was brought up in the country with all kinds of ducks the differences are very apparent. The difference between male and female is like night is to day.
I note that the young ducklings still have their downy or fluffy coats. We have the same breed of duck here in NZ The Mallard comes to mind.
They certainly posed very well for you - lol
